Lund 1800 fisherman ?

I'm thinking about getting this boat this week. Was wondering if the 150 optimax will be sufficient.The boat's max rating is 175hp.The package will include a 9.9kicker,wave wackers, walk thru windshield,xlt pkg,74lb minnekota trolling motor w/ auto pilot and universal transducer,lowrance x135, 3000lb shorelander trailer w/brakes. The price is 28,700.For those that have this boat,how is your overall experience with it? Is there any options I might be missing? This will be my first time ordering a boat.

you'll be happy with the 150. The only benefit w/the 175 would be higher top-end speed. I sold my 1800 Fish. last year, but had no complaints about the boat. Very roomy and handles big water very well. Only had a 125 on mine and that was a little small and the boat didn't perform as well as it could have. I'm sure you'll be happy with your purchase.

Nice boat,150 should be fine but would consider the 175 unless it is a big price difference.I always hear people say I should have maxed it out.Another thing to consider is a swing tounge on the trailer

The dealer said the 175 would only give me an extra 2-3mph for an extra $2,000.

I just got a Crestliner Sportfish 1850
with the same motor (150 Optimax) From
everything I've read on the motor, it
kicks some butt in both holeshots and
on the top end speed. Also 40% better
fuel mileage than the standard 2 strokes.
I just couldn't go 3K for another 25 horse
either!! I pick it up in two weeks.

Mr Clean, I have almost the exact same set up but in a 1800 PROV IFS. I have a 175 Yam HPDI VMAX though. First, it cost about 800 more from my recollection but maybe in the merc it's different. I got it because my last boat was underpowered so I went to the extreme. When you look at it 2-4 miles per hour is really irrelevant. You spend 95% of your time fishing the rest running around. I'd get the 150 also, you won't regret it. Good call on the rest of the stuff, exciting isn't it?

I'd agree with the stainless prop idea if you want some more speed. Wait, see the RPM at wide open and then go to a prop shop and give them the info. I use the aluminum prop when I'm in particularly rock infested waters and the stainless in lakes I know better. It's good to have two anyway and another toy to add to your arsenal. Your arsenal is amply full now.

Well, I just bought the boat tonight.Decided to go with the Yamaha 150 4-stroke.I figured being I was spending that kind of money I should get the best.Thanks for the advice on the acessories. I got almost every available option on it.WWG as soonas I take delivery we'll have to hit the river.Should have it by April 7th. Okay Dennis you can go too

Sounds like we've got identical boats (mines an '03) and trailers. I've got the 140 Suzuki, 4 strk. I love the boat & motor (& trailer). The 140 pushes me just fine - about 42-45 mph depending on load. I'm not a speed freak, this does me just fine. Great all around rig, everything from tubing, skiing & of course fishing. I have an 1800 fisherman '03 with 115 fourstroke Yamaha. It is a little sluggish, can go about 40 mph with much weight. Unless your are really looking for speed 150 shoud be plenty.
