Went out for a few hours with some buds of mine. Ended up with only 3 birds.

Practically had to step on the dumb things for them to flush. They were holding tight in willows and thicker undergrowth. We had a Setter with, and he had an easy time pointing because the birds were staying put.

Missed a few, bagged a few. It was a good, icy day after all!

Jack, you did better than we did. Yesterday we didn't even see a hen. Today we only saw 5 hens and they held really tight as well. If you ever need someone to go with, let me know. I hunt solo quite a bit, but am always looking for company.

Yeah we probably saw 15-20 birds today. Lots of roosters, and I personally saw 6 hens today.

Accidentally shot at a hen too

Luckily, I missed. It flushed a few feet from me and I thought it was a rooster.

What kind of land do you hunt?

Hunted all private land today. We hunted a lot of thick willows, cattails, and edges of cut corn. I do hunt public land once in a while as well, but usually only during midweek. Today we were around Holdingford most of the day.

Holdingford? I was hunting a couple miles west of Holdingford for most of the day.
