Take a life, save a life. My coon Meeko!

I was just looking through old pictures from this summer, and found these.

Nothing is more cute than raising a raccoon. They are such interesting animals!

We gave him away to a "zoo" later this summer though. DNR issues or something.

What an experience. Waking up twice a night to feed him milk, playing with him, scratching his belly. Man, I miss my coon.

Very cool and commendable for raising a raccoon kit, and thanks for donating it it a zoo of sorts.

The issue that the DNR takes with releasing a hand raised animal is that they can "imprint" on humans, this can be to a detriment of the animal. The animal may become to dependent of humans and not learn how to find food on its own, or it may "think" humans are the same species and when they come of age of sorts they can become very protective and very irritable and may attack "the hand that feed them".
