Solo Lazer PRO Auger, how do you know when your blades are bad?

I bought a Solo Lazer Pro last winter. I didnt drill that many holes with it. However, towards the end of the season, my Solo didnt cut like it did before, which is like a hot knife on butter. Did my blades go dull on me? Do I need new lazer blades?

If its slower and you have to press down at all its time for new blades or get the pitch checked on the shaft. Try new blades 1st and if that dont do the trick have Strikemaster check the pitch for ya. They are very good with this type thing.

Maybe send the auger back to get checked before buying more blades. If the pitch is off it may dull your blades again. You didn't state whether you drilled through sand or hit something so I'm assuming they dulled on their own rather quickly. Last year year I bottomed out in mud on the 50th or so hole drilled and trashed the blades, it doesn't take much.

I would say that you hit some sand or fine rock while drilling. If you start to cut this winter and it just spins on top of the ice it is because the blades are totally shot because of sand. Some unfriendly fisherman know this and hole hoppers use these kind of augers mostly so they through sand around their area so if someone starts to auger close by the blades go bad immediately. It happend to me but i wasn't close to anyone just a big patch of sand from truck driving around!!

sounds like dull blades to me. Lazer blades are more fragile than the chipper blade. Always a good idea to have a spare set just incase. Lots of [PoorWordUsage] fall off peoples trucks while on the ice.
