Questions on Tohatsu outboard

Sorry wrong spot.

I am looking at buying a boat and it has a 1996 40hp Tohatsu outboard on it. Does anyone have any good/bad info on these motors.

i would look elseware for a boat and motor set-up there is no re-sale with that set-up (just my 2 cents)

I guess am not really looking at it for resale value. Just kind of wondering if they have a good reputation and they run good or are they dump. Thanks for the info.

My buddy owns one. Took his lower unit of the first two weeks he had it. Another two months later he finally got parts shipped from China.

Getting parts is one thing I am worried about. The Tohatsu web page shows a couple marine stores in the Duluth area but I havn't been able to get a hold of them. Thanks again,

Isn't Tohatsu Nissan?
