2005 envoy flickering lights

Recommended Posts

Mine did that and does it every once in a while. the battery gauge drops slightly at the same time. I have never been able to determine the problem. I tried cleaning the battery terminals. I'm not sure if it helped or not. Only other place I can imagine the problem would be is at the alternator.

Chrysler had a similar issue with there caravans. 99% of the time it was the battery. The other times it was the alternator.

A five year old battery doesn't owe you anything and would be as good a start as any. You can also check the connections at the battery at the same time. The side mount terminals on GM's are notorious for leaking and causing excessive corrosion build up on the terminal ends.

Mine does the same thing. I brought it in to the dealer and there was a TB on the problem. It said it was caused by the computer going through some testing I can't remember the details. It also said DO Not replace the alternator. The solution was to let the car warm up before driving. If it does it while driving pull over, turn the engine off and restart it. That works for me, although I seldom do that anymore. That was 3 or 4 years and 50 k and I have not had any additional problems.
