Charging a Marcum battery

I got careless and the insulation on the cord on the little wall charger that came with my Marcum VX-1 unit began to crack, exposing the wiring and eventually the charger just fried.

I guess that it what happens when you wind the cord around the charger itself instead of the proper method.

Wondering if I can use my regular battery charger, (which does have a 2 amp setting) or do I need to purchase a new charger?

The chargers (all styles) for the 7 and 9 amp hour batteries charge at 500 milliamps(1/2 amp).

You could use anyone of those. The 2 amp charger is charging at a faster rate then is recommended.

Or look around for another battery and have an additional back up. Look for one that has a charger with it. Always seem to put the batteries to use.

GA, good point and I agree that having a spare is a good idea. Sometimes you can find the battery and charger sold together.

Pets did a bit of damage to my cord but I salvaged it with some electrical tape and a bit of elbow grease.

Bought my vex used and it came with a battery but no charger, after seeing chargers with the vex name on them go for around $25-30 bucks I searched online and found a much much better deal.

You can use any 12 v charger from 500 ma to 1000 ma without any problems. Some are 'smarter' than others so you end up paying more for a multistage smart charger.
