Found sand in my 6hp Johnson carburator!

Finally got around to take apart my carb to see what is going on with it as it would start good but wouldn't stay running.

I found a fair amount of sand in the top idle adjustment hole where the

brass rod goes in.

Used some fogging oil that had the small tube to blow out any other debris that seemed to work good. Cleaned the rest of the carb and re-assembled. Everything else in the carb looked good.

Now, dummy me, I took apart the fuel pump trying to take note how it was assembled so I could put it back together the correct way, but that didn't happen. So now I am in search of a new fuel pump. Any suggestions?

Well looking around for a new fuel pump, they ranged from $40.00 for a used one to $90.00 for a new one. Rebuid kits $14.95 with instructions.

Lets see, I think i'll go with the rebuild kit!

Now about sand in the carb, did the sand come from the tank of gas my brother borroed me? Or the tank that came with the motor?

Seems like the old metal tanks (original equipment) there were less issues than those plastic models they offer now.Oh well, thanx for all the input!
