thrax
Visited the lake for the first time today. Moved a total of zero fish, saw a couple porpoisers so I know I was at least in the ballpark on a few spots, but feel like the lake kicked me in the tail today. Not looking for spots, but general advice. Tons of deep weeds. Dawg lake? Trolling? Lake seemed choked with baitfish, I considered trolling a little but didn't. Thanks.
cbrooks
I've only had success with dawgs there. Fish em on the outside weededge. Casting from the shallow side to the deep weed edge work for me. I just followed the deep weedline(right around 12 feet down mostly). I've only fish this lake a few times so I may have gotten lucky. john skarie
Thrax;Lots of good spots on that lake, it fishes big for how little acres of water there actually are.1st tip, don't go there unless it's cloudy, or at night. Lots of baits work, just have to be there under the right conditions.2nd, try suckers in Oct.3rd, troll deep water in June and October to end of season.JS
thrax
Thx for the tips guys. I'll be back there in a couple weeks, maybe one day next weekend. Guess I didn't expect it to give up all its secrets in one day, but it did leave me scratching my chin a little. ps. John - missed you at the Hamm, was looking forward to running into you and shooting the breeze for a bit. At least you didn't miss out on a hot bite, lol. john skarie
Got to busy at work to go to the Challunge. Would have been fun even though the bite was tough. Wouldn't be the 1st challunge I've gotten skunked at!!Will be in the Bemidji area in Oct. a bit, maybe we can find a watering hole talk skies.JS
mn_bowhunter
I'd have to agree with John mostly, except for the cloudy and night part. Myself and others catch more fish between 11am-2pm on bright days. I have noticed a dramatic increase in pressure out there lately. Usually this time of year the big lake is pretty good on humps and shorelines.
