Shoepack Lake

Me and a couple buddies are planing on a hike into Shoepack Lake on the Kabetogama peninsula. I am wonder if any body has recently fish this lake and if the know some about this lake. Everybody i have been asking only know its full of little musky and i am more interested in what to use specifically for tackle

#5-#6 blade inline spinners and spinnerbaits would be what I'd start off with.

I haven't fished Shoepack, but I've fished lakes that were once stocked with Shoepack strain muskies, and the couple we boated acted basically like your traditional Leech strain in location, but were staying far away from anything big.

Regular dawgs and a mepps musky killer were the ticket those couple days.

I've done the hike a few times,at one time there was a canoe left there for anyones use I think that was 2005 and 2006 anyway it was there both years.We had no musky lures but used spinner baits,flatfish,and surface lures.They hit them all!!! and we caught more than expected,Their small 2-6?8 lbs.

Lots a fun bugs were bad and its super wet this year BE PREPARED Netting hoods,tight tents and anything you can get for MOSQUITOES

have heard about the canoe and thanks for the lure advice. I will have to make sure to prepare for the bugs.
