Just to let us know what your seeing.

The Rose-Breasted Grosbeaks must be fledging. I've had at least one at my feeders all day. At least one of them feels right at home He/She just sits in the seeds and eats while the mature ones are vary nerves and always looking around.

A Hairy had a young one down and was feeding it.

We made a decision this summer to limit things to a hummer nectar feeder and a niger feeder. No black oil sunflower, which has been a year-round staple for us for 35 years. Reason being, our veggie gardens are extensive this year, and the deer are drawn in for the sunflower seed and end up eating the veggies, not to mention how much they like hosta, and I just planted our 15th hosta this spring.

So no deer. Until we start in with the sunflower next fall.

However, we get chipping sparrows, goldfinches, siskins, house finches and chickadees coming to the niger seed. And the fish guts are still getting tossed up on the garage roof for the ravens and gulls. smile
