New Remington steel

Just got the new outdoor news today. When i got to page 12 here is a story for new Hypersonic steel shot. They boast 1700 fps with 11 percent less lead needed at 40 yards and 16 percent more energy. I don't know about everyone else but i have not had good luck with remington steel, my gun just would not pattern with them. They say that the shells are not going to cost anymore than current premium shells so i dont know if i should try them or stick to my black clouds. I'd like to get some other opinions on other shells, as i've only used federals and winchesters with any frequency.

The past couple years I have used kent faststeel 3" 2 shot and for me, it outshot black cloud and federals.

I should also note that I use a Nova and mostly float the Platte and Long Prairie rivers with limited jump shooting.

me too. I shoot kent.

Ive always stayed away from remington cause it would really make my gun dirty. I dont know how their stuff is now, but I could shoot 10 boxes of federal and my gun would be cleaner than with 1 box of remington.

These shell makers are hunting for us. Ive shot a lot of differnt brands and I hit and miss with alll of them when I'm on, I'm on and when I miss I'm not on and I dont think its the shell.

Now as in cleaner shooting shells I had some of my bets luck with remingtons and winchesters are the dirtiest in my gun and they dont cycle as well either.

this years new ammo gimmick. it won't make you kill any more ducks. unless your going to practice shooting clays with the ammo, how do you know how to adjust your lead by 11 percent anyways????? i'll stick to the 5 cases of federal sitting in my closet. that should last until spring snows.

I beleive it will be an intresting shell, especially running at 1700 feet per second. Ive heard only good things about the new snow goose loads by black cloud that are running in the 1635 fps catagory. Yes it will decrease ur lead some, but will really improve in your long distance shot catagory, and should help with less cripples. There is alot of energy behind those shells. As for cleanliness, its hard to say. Most shells out there are dirty unless you shoot premium, but even those arnt "clean" Im for what ever shell cycles and patterns best out of your gun and who knows maybe the remingtons will be it for you!

I used to shoot winchester supremes but found that kents performed just as well if not better for me and were cheaper. So I'm a faststeel guy.

Just think what the sky busting would be like if hevishot and similar shells were cheaper
