Anyone else kept off the water by thunderstorms?

Recommended Posts

Being canoe-bound has its limitations. Lacking a motor means that for safety reasons, I have to keep of the water BEFORE I hear thunder or see lightning. It'd suck to go out on a 50% chance of thunderstorms, have the wind rip up as I see lightning for the first time in the distance, and have a half hour paddle back to the take-out.

I made the smart decision to say nay to going out this opener after looking at weather radar at my destination lake.

Best of luck to those of you who did get out. I might take a day or two and get out tuesday-thursday when the weather is supposed to settle before it gets crappy again next weekend.
