I-pilot VS Structure Scan

Muskiebait

Question

Okay so if a guy had a few extra hundred bucks laying around in the sofa cushions and was looking at adding a few extras to the boat what where would you get the most for your money, the Minn Kota I Pilot for around $400 or the Structure scan for around $600 I know they both have advantages, but which would be the most appealling which one are you gonna get the most bang for your buck????

No question about it, side imaging is the way to go. I have an iPilot and love it, but side imaging puts me on more fish every time out. My iPilot just makes me feel like a boat control hack when I'm not using it.. smile

My answer changes depending on what you have already and how you normally fish.

If you already have a trolling motor with Auto-Pilot, the upgrade to I-Pilot does not buy you that much and I would lean towards the Structure Scan.

If you troll a lot and like to keep a very consistant speed go with the I-Pilot.

Also if you fish while anchored and don't want to have to throw out an anchor go with the I-Pilot because the anchor function is awesome. It is much easier to get on your spot and hit the button than to find you spot, move up wind/current, throw the anchor, let out rope and hope you have the right spot.

Overall, for my circumstances, the I-Pilot has added more fishability (is that even a word?) features to my boat. I do not use the Structure Scan a lot because I know the areas I fish very well already. If I was going to a new lake or river the Structure Scan would get a real workout.
