River Pro?

B.R.O.

Question

Hey guys, I am interested in one of the High-pro's to fish the Miss. from Monti. to St.cloud coming from the Clearwater or Snuffys landings. and sometimes a small lake or two. Man I see the u-tube videos and can hardly stand not having one they look so cool.

Can anyone give me first hand experience how well they work along this stretch of river in say mid August when the water is as low as it gets? Does anyone mount a winch or anything to get off of say a sandbar you didn't see? They look too heavy for a guy to get out and push it off of.

I imagine they are also able to handle smaller lakes just fine too? any special way of doing things different needed there? Any help is appreciated, unfortunately the budget isn't there yet this year but hopefully soon. I want enough for a brand new one compared to a used one after what I've seen some of you guys do to them grin Looks like about the most fun though a guy can have with his clothes on laugh

Bud, there's a whole group of like-minded people for you that share similar opinions...its in the Amish community, maybe live with them and talk of how the worlds so crazy while getting your morning milk straight from the tit. Meanwhile I will enjoy the spoils of technology with the machines it provides...sort of like you do with the internet wink

what makes you judge of what boat is appropriate for a body of water? You said yourself we are not feeding our families with our fishing and hunting hobbies.....well then its just for fun, why the helll would I want to to put in work when I don't have to? It wont make me feel like some kind of hero of the community because I was dumb enough not to use what I could to make the hobbie easier or more enjoyable (I work hard enough at work) to save the environment, you've got to be kidding. On a side note the guy that can afford the river pro probably pays more income (and gas wink ) taxes than you ever will thus more money for the government's environmental programs thus greener than you grin

Wow. So a River Pro runs by briefly and goes on to fish quiet with the trolling motor and drifting....big deal. If it floats and fishes the water it is in it isn't "too much boat for the water". A River Pro owner can't also be a sportsman? The RP owners I know care a ton about the rivers and the fish they chase. I've seen way more river smallies killed by the paddlers and waders on the river I fish than the guys I know that are out there for the sport in River Pros and similar types of boats like I use. It is 100% legal for an 18' boat with a 200 horse motor on it to launch at a public access on a 1000 acre lake. FYI...I just had my 21' boat with a 300 horse on it in a 200 acre lake. I used my outboard to get on plane for about 30 seconds and used the troller the rest of the time. I didn't buy that boat for small lakes but it works just fine when I fish close to home and not on the river chasing smallies. Before you lump me in your lazy hunter group based on my boat choices just know that I choose to hunt grouse by walking with a dog and don't use a wheeler for my deer hunting.

Just to back that statement up of the river pro guys being good Stuards of the prey they chase.. I can say as a guy that watches what goes on here every day from my back yard that the only time I see the paddlers is when it's nice and sunny "i.e fair weather" the R.P guys are out on the water lots of times when nobody else is, when the weather is crappy and nobody else wants to be out. That tells me a lot about them. The guys that are passionate about the sport and willing to endure the bad conditions are the ones that care more about the fish, thier enviornment, and they're future success. P.S. I also forgo the wheeler and walk a mile or so in the woods to hunt at my stand and if Lucky drag my game out that far. Not because it makes me feel good or I'm lazy, it's just the only way.
