DTro Posted May 19, 2010 Share Posted May 19, 2010 For those that don't know, a bill allowing 2 lines is currently sitting at the Gov's desk waiting for a signature. This bill will allow the use of 2 lines. Here is the wording: Sec. 47. Minnesota Statutes 2008, section 97C.315, subdivision 1, is amended to read: 22.34 Subdivision 1. Lines. (a) An angler may not use more than one line except as 22.35provided in paragraph (, and: 23.1(1) two lines may be used to take fish through the ice; and 23.2(2) the commissioner may, by rule, authorize the use of two lines in areas designated 23.3by the commissioner in Lake Superior. 23.4( During the open water period, an angler may use two lines if the angler purchases 23.5a second line endorsement for $10 and the endorsement is purchased with the angling 23.6license. An angler with a two-line endorsement is prohibited from the use of two lines on 23.7experimental or special management waters that have reduced limits for any species that 23.8are not based on size. Daily and possession limits during the open water season for fish 23.9taken by a person with a two-line endorsement are one-half the daily and possession limits 23.10for the corresponding fish taken under a standard angling license, rounded down to the 23.11next whole number, if necessary. By March 1, 2011, the commissioner shall provide for 23.12public education on the availability of and restrictions under a two-line endorsement. 23.13EFFECTIVE DATE.This section is effective March 1, 2011.
