07 chev Impala solenoid vent valve?

I am getting a code of P0455 Large Evap Leak.

the car drives fine I see or feel no differance in performance. The part alone is $87 My ? for the pros is what effects does this part have on the vehicle more or less what is it doing that I am not seeing.

Well I just found the part at another dealer for $29 the other deal must have had the wrong part or just needs the money. anyway I wanted to clarifuy the part

This is the air flow vent valve that attaches to the Charcoal canister located behing the Gas inlet

I think there is a fuse specifically for those. Make sure the fuse isn't blown. If it is replace the fuse and "EVAP Vent Solenoid". If it isn't and the gas cap is tight than the EVAP Vent Solenoid is a pretty good start as they are know to go bad. You can test it out of the car. With no power to it you should be able to blow through it. With it jumped to power/ground you should hear a click and not be able to blow through it.

Seeing the car seems to run fine I was wondering how this affects the cars performance?

It doesn't. Its the Evaporative emissions system which is designed to collect and then burn the fuel vapor that collects in the fuel tank. However on most makes and models if the check engine light is on it will disable features like traction control and stability control since those systems rely on the engine and transmission to be at 100% to opperate as intended. That and if a more serious issue comes up you won't know because the check engine light is already on.
