Huskie
With the recent winds I've lost a lot of leaves from my ash tree's, is this anything to be concerned with, do they grow back. I have not heard of any ash borer problems close to here, but who knows? Any ideas?
Dotch
The ash trees in our yard are doing it too but after jogging my memory, we've seen this happen before. After a little research to confirm it, turns out it could be due to a fungal disease known as anthracnose as well as some of the cold, damp weather we experienced the past week. Most trees including ash have a second set of buds at the ready so not to worry. Case in point are those trees that lose all their leaves due to tent caterpillar infestations. Powerstroke
Dotch hit this one right on the head. It is anthracnose. NOthing you can do about it now. If its seems like this has been a problem for you in the past, you should consider doing a fungicide treatment in the spring. Timing is important so if you plan to do it yourself do your research. If its a large tree, hire a qualified and LICENSED tree sprayer to do the work.
