Hory
I am looking for a boat cover for a 14 foot boat (early 80's lund). The boat will be outside for maybe 1/3 of the summer, and the other part of the summer and off season it will be in a garage. I was just wondering what I should look for as far as fit, ability to keep water out, and price. I realize a good boat cover will set me back some money...but if it's worth it I'm willing to do so. Thanks for the help.
marine_man
I guess it depends on what your expectations are. If you're going to repeat this again next year and the year after that I'd consider a heavier canvas than a generic cover will probably offer. You'll need some sort of poles or support system to keep the water from pooling when it's outside.I wouldn't go as far as a custom made cover, but would look for a heavier canvas version that will hold up over time.marine_man
Hory
Would you have any suggestions as far as poles/rib support systems, or where I could purchase this with the cover?
LightningBG
look to see if it has the brackets for the "bow" type supports. They will be a little rectangle receiver just under the top rail of the sides. If it has them, you'll want some wood or fiberglass supports that fit into those. marine_man
That's correct... fleet farm, cabelas, etc all have Fibergalss or Wood Bows you can use with the proper base (also sold there) to make an arrangement like this (as shown in the back of this boat for a small boat): marine_man
