haleysgold
I've heard the horror stories of leaving your Vantage trolling motor down and having end up in the bottom of the lake when fire up your big motor. There's a guy north of Brainerd that can wire them to the big motor so it won't start if the vantage is deployed.Does anyone know of anyone closer to Rochester, MN who can do this?If not, does anyone know if the guy near Brainerd can do it while you wait and how much it costs? riverview
I have been thinking about a vantage. but i dont unserstand how it would end up in the lake. do the mounts break?
haleysgold
That's what I've read on a number of posts. If you forget to raise it before taking off, the pressure on the shaft causes the break away mounts to let go and down she goes...I can see myself forgetting and having that happen. I'm just getting one and would like to have a safety switch wired to the big motor. That way the big motor won't start unless the Vantage is in the "up" position. nblasin
It was Jim Wentworth of Fish Lectronics. I believe Jim retired last year but the guy that took over is doing the same electrical work on boats.
