chain saw carb help

kerryd15

Question

hi i have a 42cc poulan pro chain saw that i am having issues with. It starts good, idles good and runs to half throttle well. It has what i would call a 2 barrel carb and when the second barrel starts to open at half throttle it dies off. i have taken the carb apart and blown all ports out and ran a fine wire in the really small ones. is this an issue with the reed gas pump? i had an issue similar to this last fall, and thought i had fixed it. the filter in the gas tank was slimy, and cleaned it up and ran well last fall after that- cleaned it today as well. thanks for any help

I'm not much of a carb man but I am a firm believer in seafoam. Put a little in the gas, not much, run it till u think it's up in the carb leave it sit over night and try it again. Some times it's hard to get all those little ports clean.

I had problems with my ice auger this winter and did this. It took a couple of times running it but it came out of it. What ever was plugged in there finally broke lose. Just a thought hope it helps.
