Bullheads for flathead bait.

Can I catch a few bullheads from a local lake, and bring them over to the Minnesota river to catch some flatheads.

I've never used bullheads while fishing for flatheads before, but I have heard it works really well. If I can use bullheads any tips you guys and gals could give me would be awesome. Thanks!

There is a gray area here in the laws.Its kinda a sticky deal becasue you may not transport live fish,but a bullhead of less than 7" is considered a minnow.So my GUESS is that you can.
For the best answer I would email the DNR and get an answer from them.I have used bullheads on the MN River but the ones that I used came from a creek that entered that river.

Does this apply for any fish or just bull heads? I knew some people that used to use small perch for fishing northers.

It's illegal to use perch for bait in Minnesota and also transporting live perch or any live game fish is illegal. Not sure about rough fish because some can be used for bait.

I e-mailed the DNR just about a week ago on this. The reply from them was: "As long as they are under 7 inches they can be used for bait, but only four of them can be transported between lakes." This was received from Kevin Kyle of the MN DNR.
