bronzeback
I'm thinking of making about a 30 minute hike to a warm water discharge that I'm not entirely sure is even still pumping out water. I'm curious if anyone has any advice on what kind of bait to throw in a spot like this. I'm hoping for some action on some pike, though I know a few rough fish could inhabit the area, though I've only seen them hang in that area while they were spawning. Any advice on gear, lures, etc? I'm probably going to throw 2-3" tubes the whole time. I used to catch pike up until the end of January on tubes in an entirely different spot and I think it could be a good choice, but if anyone has any other suggestions of mid-winter, semi-open water baits I'd love to hear about it. bronzeback
the reason for this thread is all of the dang fishing shows on VS. on a friday night. Ice fishing is okay......but there's just something about casting and open water fishing that can't be satisfied (for me) during the winter. wbliceman
those would work great right now any time of soft plastic worked slowly would catch a few fish if they are there.
bronzeback
that's what I was thinking, thanks for the positive reinforcement. This spot is really one of the only HOPEFULLY fishable spots of open water in the area so I'm really hoping there's a chance to cast out there.
