3pronghook
Ive had a small 8x16 garden in my back yard for 5-6 years. I over plant it and really battle blight issues. Anyone know if there is a way to treat the soil to eliminate the problem, or would i be better off diggin the old soil out 3-4 feet down and just replacing it all. looking some advice/opinions. What plants are you having the blight problem with? Tomatoes are easy to fix.

Juneau4
I'll try to help you out. Stake or cage the tom. as they grow remove the bottom branches so no leaves touch the ground, you may be taking them up to a foot or better. About the first of July put down a mulch of grass clippings around and in between the plants. Potatoes: when they're up 3 inches or so put lawn clippings around them. 2 or 3 inches. The lawn clippings will prevent dirt from splattering on the leaves when it rains. The blight is in the soil. Last and most important get a fungicide. I use Daconil (the concentrated) Use it about every 10 days. Apply in the morning so it dries out during the day. I use a sprinkling can and just pour it over the plants. If you water your tom. do it in the morning and only down on the ground. Don"t water the folliage it will just promote blight. Hope this was of some help and good luck.
