You can use live bait for trout in ontario. Some of my guests do it on a second line, but never on the main one they are using. They all jig with white or glow tubes watching their electronic, when they see a fish on the screen they either reel up to or low down to the fish.

You can try it, but they catch far more fish on tubes vs. live bait on a sep. rig.
