Hello All, this is a newby question for sure. I am looking for tips to catch freshly stocked hatchery trout this weekend in a local pond. The Iowa DNR does this a couple times a year and tomorrow is the day, I will take my 6 and 8 year old sons out this weekend to ice fish for them. Any tips on bait choices / fishing tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

CnH,

Bring the Vex for sure. Set the kids up with some glow green

glow white # 6 or 8 jigs. Put three waxies on and have them

jig away. Set their bobbers at 5' to start. The float is only to keep the correct depth not just sit and wait. Jiggle.

Watch the vex and set their depths accordingly.

You can tie on a small kastmaster w/waxies. Jig it and draw some attention. Let it rest a second or two and then wiggle it a few times..rest and then start over.

Good luck and post some pictures of the kids with their trout.
