Does any one have any advise about trying to seal the wood your self with stains or something else that would make the wood last longer? How many inches should you put between each stud on the floor too? Some one also told me about putting some kind of metal strips on the skids so the ice and stuff does not rip them up is that a good idea?

i have a welder friend wants to use 2x2 steel tube welded to the frame 24" OC i was thinking more 16" OC...

2x2 steel? That is seriously overkill, not to mention extremely heavy. 1" tube steel with a 1" firing strip would be a MUCH better option IMO.

would you put the 1" 16" or 24" OC

I would do 16", but you may be able to get by with 24".

makes sense...probably could get by with 24" on center. .040 aluminum skin and spray foam it..but I am only looking to do a 12ft v-front and adding a couple more stud shouldn't weigh it down that much more only going 7ft hight walls...
