Brushy Creek Fishing Reports - Iowa

Recommended Posts

I have not heard about ice on brushy yet. I know Storm Lake reporting 7-9"

Call over at Duncombe Gas & Grocery they would know the ice for sure.

I have yet to get out this year and looking to get out on the 26th somewhere.

Brushy Creek Lake

The ice is good in the bays and north end; avoid the main lake, ice is not safe. There is open water off the swimming beach. Anglers are catching fair numbers of bluegill and crappie. Bluegill - Good: Try the north end. Crappie - Good: Fish are a bit small; fish the north end. Walleye - Slow: Try fishing for walleye in late afternoon with minnows.

The boat ramp areas have been plowed out. Ice fishermen are catching bluegill and some crappie.

Ice conditions remain fair, but there are still some areas with thin ice or may have water under the snow.

Bluegill fishing is good. Bluegill are being caught in 20 to 25 feet of water right off of the bottom using wax worms.

Crappie fishing is fair. A few crappies have been caught on minnows.

Walleye ice fishing is slow. Try just at sunset for them.
