hugonian1
I have a couple of wild turkey breasts that I would like to make into jerky. Can you run them thru the grinder and use the jerky gun? This works great for venison but am not sure about turkey. Also wondering if you can use somthing like the Hi Mountain cure & mix and if a dehydrator that gets up to 155 degrees is enough to kill off any bacteria, etc.Looking for ideas.I appreciate your thoughts. DonBo
Yes, you can grind turkey just like venny, but personally I'd just slice it up and not grind it at all. The Hi Mountain is my favorite mix. Your dehydrator will work just fine.
bassNspear
How did it turn out?
hugonian1
It turned out great.I ground it and used the Hi Mountain Pepper & Garlic cure and mix. Shot it thru the jerky gun, 6 hours in the dehydrator. It dried a little faster than venison. It only lasted a couple of days around the house so it definately was a hit.
