Dragonfisherman
A group of us are trying to get a few late season hunts around the Fergus Falls area this upcoming weekend and I am not familiar with the area much. What I was wondering is if there is anyone from the area that would be willing to chime in and help us out on the locations of city limits and such. We were down there tonight and found a few fields but want to make sure that we are not wasting our time in certain areas. I am gonna stop at the court house and try to get a map that will hopefully help. We have a big spread of dekes, blinds etc. and would being open to hunting with another group to shoot them up if that works out also. Anyways if anyone is willing email me. Happy huntin.. poutpro
Fergus Falls and Rochester are probably the 2 busiest areas in MN to hunt late season geese. A lot of hunters, a lot of leases, and access can be difficult to get. However, there are good opportunities on public sloughs on the ice. If you get close to town, you will see geese flying if you can get them to come in.
drakes247
I’ll second that pout, we have been hunting a field right outside of town, and there is somebody set up in every field around us. Makes it kind of tough to get birds to finish when they are getting sky blasted from every angle! Didn’t make it home last weekend, are the birds still keeping pebble open? carpshooterdeluxe
lol good luck. we have had to keep in touch through out the season with land owners just to make sure we still have permission for 2 fields. i talked to him monday night and he said 7 different people had asked him over the weekend about hunting. its going to be a gong show up there this weekend. kobear
Every duck hunter who drives by on 94 thinks they are in goose heaven. Actually the interstate is perfectly positioned under the main flight path and while there are siginficant numbers of geese around, it ain't that easy!
