Rust proofing underside of truck?

Well I found an older truck with a surprisingly little rust. just a little surface rust underneath the cab corners, everything else is solid. anyone know what rustproofing the underside costs? I would like to make it last but cant spend too much. I'm guessing it will be more than I should spend, anyone have any do it yourself idea's? thinking something I can get at an auto parts store and do myself...or any tips on how to keep it at bay?

you can buy undercoating from the auto house. it is a nasty job but can be done on the drive with throw away tarps under the truck. might also check with a local body shop to see if anyone around you does it.

Undercoating is a tough do-it-yourself job if you truly want it to be done the right way. I am not sure of the cost anymore but it used to range from $150-$300. But, if rust has already started then nothing can stop it so it might not be worth it.

I just had a ford E-250 van done and it was $795. Although they did some special coating on the outside also.
