superhawk16
Hey guys, thinking of getting the maxus as my first semi auto. Tried doing some searches on the site for any info but really can find more than a few posts...Just wondering if anybody has one and how it is functioning after getting mudded up and bounced around a duck boat for a few weeks. I have only read good things about them so far (except one review on a prototype said the forearm was loose??) but it is hard to tell if a shotgun will really go the distance after it has only been out for a few months. I'm sure I'll get plenty of comments to go with the SBE 2 or SX3 here but really am just looking to see if anybody has really run a lot of shells through a maxus thus far...THANKS
MDD
I work for a retail store that sells the Maxus and I had the opportunity to shoot the Maxus this past June. I dont' own one yet but it will be my first purchase in 2010 when I can use my Browning discount again. I really liked the fit of the gun for myself and the Dura Touch coating in the camo color.....no rusting. I also like Browning's magazine cut-off and the Maxus also has a speed load feacher that was nice. The forearm was redesigned to be more like the forearms of their O/U so there is no screw cap just a locking lever that allows for the forearm to be removed quickly and easily. There is a key system to remove the plug which is nice becasue you don't have to worry about the spring flying out. I was extremely impressed with the limited recoil and how fast the auto loader was.....they calim it is one of the fastest on the market and it was fast. I have shot the SBE II, the new Vinchi, Browning's Gold & silver, Different Remingtons, Beretta A391, etc. and I really enjoyed the new Maxus. The guns I listed are all fantastic guns and you can always find someone who has a pro or a con against them. If you like the gun I would reccomend it and you can always take it into a gunsmith to have a fitting done so it fits you right. Not all guns out of the box will fit every person correctly. One last note...another new auto loader that we shot in June with the gun reps was the Remington 105 CTI. It's a bottom load bottom eject which I thought was nice for the lefties looking for an alternative and I thought it performed very well.Good luck with your new purchase....MDD
