Drop Shotting & Gulp

I read through the Gulp thread but didn't see how the drop shot was being rigged. What size hook you using for 2.5 minnows and minnow grubs?

i use the drop shot jigs you can order of the internet.

but if you can find regular drop shot hooks the right size for them, get em! the largest i use is a size 4, which i would use for slab crappies. but i upgrade to the 3" gulp minnows for them

i will use octopus hooks (tied to ride point up) sometimes, and i have good success with that. either hook the Gulp minnow through the nose or thread it onto the hook (thats the best way)

but be sure it is COMPLETELY straight! you wouldnt believe the difference it makes when fishing for big crappie

i have found that i have alot better sucess just using minnow grubs on jigs. lol. but i never really fished them on a D-shot

(on a side not, D-shotting with gulp minnows is one of my favorite early ice tecniques for crappies )
