tilt/ trim

I was having troubles with the tilt/ trim on my 1987 50 hp Johnson. I drained the fluid and now to fill it back up do I just shoot new in the drain hole until it comes out the overflow like I do with the lower unit oil?

With it in the full up postion, fill it through the large plug until it is level with the bottom of that plug. reinstall the plug, cycle it up and down several times to remove air and repeat if needed

The large on was the top one the small one was in the bottom of the cylinder. If I have the bottom one in while I fill it in through the large one won't there be pressure stopping the fluid from filling?

No, if you fill it slowly it wont be a problem.

Thanks a lot boatfixer. I'll try it next weekend when we get to the lake. Grand Rapids...I have some great memories of weekends at a friends cabin on Pokegma. In my younger days when there was no such thing as "too much fun". Enjoy the rest of the weekend.
