  1. Anyone ever hunt Pillsbury state forest? I will be in the area this weekend. I don't have a dog so wondering if its worth trying and if others have luck without a dog?
  2. I've got a Droid X shipping within the next 13 days. Does anyone have any opinions about the accessories they are using?
  3. I was wondering about this myself...what happens if your canoe/kayak capsizes with your vex running? You can strap it down so it doesn't sink to the bottom, but will submerging the unit while its running cause serious issues?
  4. gatorslayer - Two 10+ eyes?! Those are fish of a lifetime. I take it you caught them below the Sylvan Dam? I fish the river between the Pillager dam and Sylvan dam and have only caught a handful of walleyes, none of which came close to those hogs. Do you have any pictures to share with us?
  5. I picked quite a few this morning as well. To you guys who collect a ton and use them throughout the year: what are some pointers on keeping crawlers alive and kicking? Thanks, Brian
  6. Not familiar with Rock Lake, but have family that lives along the Crow Wing River in Pillager. Plan to head up that direction this weekend.
  7. Good playing with some of you guys over the weekend. I learned that ground war + chopper gunner = target practice. Multiple double and triple kills got me my first nuke.
  8. Where: A wedding Why: My cousin decided she had to get married on FISHING OPENER (Is fishing a legitimate excuse to miss a wedding?) I should be heading to Winnie the following weekend.
  9. No mention of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time? I'm mostly a FPS guy myself but Zelda is a game that ANYONE can play and enjoy. I don't get into RPGs much these days, but think I spent the entire 14th year of my life playing Final Fantasy 7. I remember clocking in over 100 hours to reach level 99. Then again I probably spent 55-60 hours to reach prestige for Modern Warfare. Sounds like an addiction. Oh well, admittance is the first step...
  10. dtro - We should play sometime. I'm about 98% complete and usually take care of business. Although I'm more of a Team Deathmatch kinda guy. Gamer tag is LlamaTheFasen (dont ask)
  11. Salmo now makes really small chubby darters. Works great with a minnow head and still has lots of action. It has landed me walleye, perch, and crappies.
  12. When your buddies are busy with something and not tending their rods you quickly reel up their line, hook on an empty can of beer, and let her back down. When they come back to the rod they see the bobber down and get all excited. "Wow! I've got a lunker on". That excitement fades when they see whats on the end of the line. Gets a good laugh every time.
  13. If the DNR thought this was a substancial issue they most likely would have implemented a plan to relieve the problem. Chris - You seem to be quite opinionated on this topic. All you guys fishing for fun better stop, apparently you're wasting more fish than those poachers. I would tend to agree that pulling fish from these depths can have an impact on their survival. However, if people are gladly following the rules you have no right to badger them. I am not breaking any laws by throwing back a 6" crappie that appears to be healthy, so don't knock me for doing it.
  14. How are you guys sharpening your chipper blades? Are you using a special file or do you just go at it?
  15. Its stated right on the license "Eff 3/1/2009 Through 4/30/2010"
  16. Looks just like every crappie I've pulled from Medicine lake....malnourished.
  17. Sounds like you already figured it out. Perch will hug the bottom like walleye. Sometimes crappies come off the bottom as well. I usually have an idea of what fish I see on the flasher based on my location on the lake.
  18. Bump - Still hoping for more feedback. Thanks guys.
  19. Thanks for the feedback. Any particular reason you love it so much MNice? I'm curious how it will work open water jigging for walleye. Vexilar's HSOforum says a 19-degree ducer covers about 1/3 of your depth. So 30 Ft depth would cover a 10Ft area. Do you need to be close to the transom mounted ducer for it to read your jig?
  20. Does anyone have experience using Veliar's high speed transducers? I have been thinking about getting one with the suction cup bracket to easily swap in and out of boats. I'd like to know what others think about it. Good, bad, or ugly.
  21. If you want slabs I suggest heading somewhere far from the metro area.
  22. No fog so its not a leaking issue. It will become a leaking issue if I have to open the housing to fix the wiring. I think the wiring issue is near the camera, not inside of it.
