Channel Cats

What's a good set-up for them? I'm heading out tomorrow for a few hours, and planning on using my set ups for flatheads, an 8' Cabela's King Kat baitcaster, MH, and a 7' MH St. Croix Musky rod (with the drag on the reel set loose of course). I'd like a little lighter rod for some more fun with the smaller channels I'm sure to catch, probably a spinning? What would you guys reccomend? Oh, and should I downsize on the weights too, or can the 2-10lb channels handle the 5oz sinkers and clickers?

One last thing: Salted suckers, how do they work for cutbait? Have a TON left from Canada lol. I'm thinking I'll grab half a dozen live ones just in case, lol.
