Wallyeyes
Left last Wed. and got back from Mahkoons in Mahkwa Resort last night. Daytime highs in the mid-70s and lows in the upper 40s. Water temps ranged from 52 degs. in the main lake, to 60 degs. in the shallow bays. The lake is up about 6 feet over the past three weeks from all the rain they've had up there. Our host, Roger said those were the fisrt nice days they've had this spring. Caught most of our fish in 7 to 16 FOW. Man, they are getting fat on some sort of bug hatch, but also were more than willing to take minnows, leeches, or crawlers. Not much luck on the Gulp I had with. Had a few bigger eyes hit the super shad I was throwing for pike. That was cool. A couple of fronts came through with wind, rain, and lightning. We were able to take shelter on shore to get out of the storms. All in all, not quite as good as last years numbers, but a better quality of fish biting. Can't wait to go back. Also, we got to meet one of Canada's finest CO's in Ontario. Super guy with a great attitude. Real friendly with some good tips to share.
