Mike Steckelberg
Anybody ever fished the redwood river running through Camden State Park for trout?
Bdog
I have fished it many times, though not at all this year or last. Had good success for browns at times. Rainbows also stocked now and are easier to catch.
Mike Steckelberg
Ok thank you, I'm just looking into starting trout fishin, so I just want to find something close by until I kind of have a idea of how to do it
Bdog
I have had good success with a small Panther Martin, 1/32 and 1/16th oz. 4lb. test or less. Cast upstream and reel fast enough to keep blades turning. When conditions are right, a fly rod with a nymph (pheasant tail, hares ear, size 16) has worked well also. There are lots of chubs, shiners, etc. that make bait fishing a hassle. Still works, just not very efficient. This is a good spot to get some fishing in without driving to Rochester or Park Rapids. Some years this stream holds over fish. My biggest brown was just under 17 inches. Most will be yearling stockers 7-10 inches. Good luck! LPCrowRiverFisherman
I fish it a couple times a year and never catch any and I have only spotted a couple on one occasion. Are there any hotspots? If so would you mind sending me an e-mail? If not it's alright.[email protected]
Mike Steckelberg
thanks for info, greatly appreciated since I don't really know much about trout fishin. I've been doing a lot of research on it before I head out the first time
