Kahle Question

I think that's how you spell it, lol. I always thought these hooks looked too thin for heavy duty flatties, but in a thread I saw awhile ago, it seems like they're pretty popular? As are circle hooks? I've always just used regular J hooks with my bullheads, are you guys usin something else? And if so, por que?

Here's an idea of size. It's a 10/0 Gamakatsu Octopus on the left and a 10/0 Eagle Claw Kahle on the right. Plenty thick for me.

Touch'e, I stand corrected lol. Do you guys use the same style of fishing as you do with an octo/J style hook?

Also what size are you guys usin? I'm guessing different ones for 6" bullies, versus 12" suckers? Or just a bunch of 10/0s lol?

I haven't used them yet, but I plan on using the 10/0 for the majority of my livebait fishing.

Mostly it’s personal preference. There are some that are lighter wire and some are heavier.

I have several of those 10/0 heavy wire buggers, and honestly if you want them, you can have them. I’ll never use them.

Pretty much 10/0 across the board. IF they can eat the bait... they have no problem with a hook.

I have no doubts at all that the fish will take the hook, my concerns are mainly the wire size creating such a large hole in the bait that it either kills it or allows it to fall off easily and also the force needed to set the hook out of the bait into the fish.

Just a matter of physics I guess.

10/0 Kahle is a BIG freakin' hook IMO.

Like Dtro, I've got a dozen or so someone can have as well.

I tried kahle hooks a few times and didn't have very good hooking percentage with them. I do know a few guys who use them a lot and do good with them. Must be a technique thing.

I have a ton of these, I know a few people that use them and say they are great, I have used them a few times, not really impressed so far, but I plan on some more testing this summer.

I used a lighter wire kahle hook and hooked up with a big flattie and she won the battle. the kahle hook came back as straight as an arrow and I will not use them again.
