redhead77
I would like to buy my first hunting dog. I like to hunt waterfowl and pheasants. Yellow or Chocolate lab. Good price I want to get it near the end of school.
LABS4ME
Redhead...can you get one now? Go down 3 threads and read Buckblasters post....He's giving the dogs to FM'ers for next to nothing...Think about it.
tie flyer
For sure contact Buckblaster.I just picked up a chocolate today from him and before I got home he sold another one. There is only one left, a big chocolate male who is mellow, yet inquisitive, and pretty good sized. Also, one of the puppies was house trained and knew "sit" after a week at his new home. Hooch
How much are you looking to spend? I bought a British Lab, just about 2yrs old now. She's been great, I could give you the phone number of the kennel but plan to spend $500-$600.
redhead77
I would like to spend $200 to $350 for a dog. I know people who have paid less than $200 for great dogs.
Hooch
So do I. So I don't think you need to pay the big bucks just to get a good dog. A freind of mine has had several dogs, from free to $450, and still to this day he'll tell you the best dog he ever had was the one he got for free. But it's all a dump-shoot. I guess I would like to have all the odds in my favor though, that's what you get when you pay for a more expencive dog with the proven history. At the same time just cause you spend $1000 on a dog doesn't mean it would hunt any better than a $200 dog. I think alot of it is "use it or loose it" and training. But why gamble whith a hopefully 10-12 year companion? that's just my opinion, I don't want to offend you. I guess I'd tell you not to buy the first dog you find and to do a little research, talk to a few kennels even the ones you would never buy from before you decide. Good luck and have fun...
