I stopped in at JR's today and checked out quite a few things there. I would not be concerned about buying from him. Very sincere guy and knows his stuff. If you talk to him for a few minutes you will quickly realize you are going to be getting a quality product. He does have some rods that are built on the same blank as the St. Croix Avids, the only major difference is that the guides are different. I think they would be a great option if you are looking for a bargain price on a good rod.
