adamb
the switch is probably the cause very common in these trucks
Christopher Quast
I have a 96 and this happened to me last year while out on Mille Lacs in deep snow and turns out it kept popping the fuse when switched into 4 dig, so I called my mechanic and he told me it was my 4 wheel drive actuator (I believed thats what it was called) there is a little selenoid that kicks it in and out and that goes bad.On the plus side mine was cheap and a simple fix took me about 10 minutes and it was done, all you have to do is locate the wire going to your front pumpkin and that is your actuator, unhook the wire and then take a crescent wrench and turn out and replace, might be trickier on a newer truck, but I doubt it.I had the exact same symptoms, is your 4 wheel drive working?Hope this helps man! quijibo
My '01 had that problem which I ignored for about two years. I replaced the switch($35) and I haven't had the message yet.
