Hi There!!

I have 1996 Ford Explorer 4X4 with 200K miles on, recently the “O/D Off” light will just start blinking slowly (about ½ of the regular turn signal blinking speed). Everything runs and drives just like normal. The transmission does not shift any different once this starts. This happens after an hour or so of driving, it never just starts out that way cold. It can happen when I have O/D on as normal or O/D Off for towing reasons.

Does anyone know what could be happening??

The reason it is flashing is there is a code set in the pcm for the transmission. I would get the codes pulled from the computer as it could be a number of things, and the codes would get us looking in the right direction.
