Ortonville Duck Hunt ??

What are the chances there will be open water and ducks in the Ortonville/Wheaton area next weekend (11/22-23)? Anyone been out there recently or have contact with someone out there?

I was at my farm about 6 miles outside of ortonville all weekend.

Ducks started to push in saturday but the ponds are starting to skim over with ice some of the bigger water was even starting to freeze. But reports out of clinton, graceville, area where reporting huge numbers of mallards geese and snows, but if they stick around i dont know. but i will be headed out that weekend i think. the rosters will still be around though!!!

any birds could easily be gone by then. plan on scouting a ton.

I was driving through ortonville last week coming home from SD, there were mallards on the river which had not frozen up yet. I would think the weather today would open up some water. Can say for sure that the birds are still there, the ice could have already pushed them South.

drove through the area tonight at sunset. not a duck in the sky; few honkers, tons of roosters, lots of does and fawns moving.
