walleyeaddict
MY one year old unit has developed a attitude problem. Often when I start it up and while using the screen goes blank with a lot of colored lines across it. If I tap it firmly on the top it comes back. Any ideas?? 0 uglystick007
Sorry to hear that. You have all ready diagnosed the problem. LCD screens make electrical contact thru special silicone pads with small gold conductors embedded in them. The connection from the circuit board to the lcd (glass/plastic) screen is by pressure only. If the circuit board becomes warped or some moisture invades the connection the pixels get all jumbled and you typically see lines. By smacking the unit you temporally fix the bad connections. You will need to contact Lowrance for return and they will end up replacing the unit. If it is out of warranty it will be around $200.
