PerchPounder
Im sure this has been covered in the past but I was unable to find anything in my searches. We recently put a 6 horse mercury kicker on our boat and would like to get a little more speed out of it for trolling muskies currently it will only push us 5mph which is plenty fast but its at full throttle. Is there a way to find out what prop is on it now or do we need to take it in? Also where would be a good place to get a replacement prop for a decent price? slammer
Cabelas carries props for small outboards. The prices seem reasonable. Look on the inner ring of the prop where exhaust comes out for the size. It should be stamped on there somewhere.
polarsusd81
The size can be found where slammer said or it could be stamped into the hub of the prop. The first number should indicate the diameter and the second should be the pitch. Going up in pitch by 1" should do what you want. If you went 2" you might not have enough power to turn it and actually lose speed.
