standing on the hatches

We've been out on our new boat a few times fishing and we find ourselves standing on the hatches that open to the live well and storage areas on the casting decks quite a bit. Is this something we should avoid or are they designed to take the weight of fisherman walking around the deck. The seem sturdy enough but I'm wondering if I should be more careful.

I stand on mine all the time. It's pretty hard not to stand on them some time or another. They are made to stand on.

I, too, stand on mine all the time. No problems in 12 years. Just have to tighten the bolts up every now and again.
