GoggleEye
I am changing the oil and filter in my 2002 Johnson 15 HP 4 stroke and I can not find where the he*# the oil filter is. Of course, I can't find my owner's manual and so I am at a standstill. Can anyone tell me where the filter housing is??? It should be easy to find, but I see nothing that resembles an oil filter!! Please help!! Thanks.GE
marine_man
I think it's behind the lower cowl, and not an external one that you just spin off... I think you have to remove three bolts on a cover that looks round and has the three bolts in a triangle pattern. I think it's on the left side of the motor.Good luck!marine_man
GoggleEye
Well marine-man you are exactly right. I finally found it this morning and got the filter changed out. I wish I would have had your advice yesterday!! I was looking at that motor for a good couple hours the other day and could not find anything that resembled an oil filter housing. They sure disguise that filter housing pretty well. Thanks for your help! GE
