Gander Tournament Musky Rods

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, these rods are new (I think) for this year, wondering if anybody's checked em out/has an opinion on them? I'm going to pick up an 8'6 heavy, because I can't find a St. Croix in that around here (I'm not willing to drive to Thorne Bros, at least not unless I get convinced the Guide Series is absolute garbage), and for $100 I think it would round out my compliment of rods nicely. Also, I have a 7'6 with a 7000 on it, I was going to move that to the 8'6, should I replace the 7'6 with a 6500C3 or another 7000?

I have two of the pro series IM 8 rods from Gander Mt. When I got them they had a life time warranty. I really like the rods and the price is right. I broke one of them a few yrs ago when I tried to horse my 45 out of the trolling motor, completely my fault, I grabbed on to the rod about half way up to try and horse the fish from wrapping around the trolling motor.(the fish in my avatar.)I didn't let the rod work properly and it snapped. I took it in the next day. They were surprised it broke, I told them what I did, and they replaced it right away. Not sure if they would still do that because I think they do not have the warranty any more.

On your other rod I would put another 7000, I am looking into getting another one this yr.
