What are some of the best type of wood used for making spearing decoys?

I have been using cedar and pine. Just need to use a good sealer on them so they don't absorb water.

Basswood is great soft and easy to workwith

I have used cedar and basswood. Use auto primer and then paint to keep them from swelling.
